Codecard.lt Discussion Board -> VAG CAN PROGRAMMER
I really tried...
Stefano 2009-11-17 19:02:08
...but I could not make Carprog work, at least on my 2005 A6 4F5.

I tried to use the S7.1 module that is advertised as
"CARPROG VAG CAN programmer work with the new models of Volkswagen, AUDI, SEAT and SKODA cars equipped with CAN System from 2004 to 07/2006 year. With this software you can read the security pin code, change the mileages and km on all these models, read key info and read all EEPROM. The software works with CARPROG interface which are sold as package. "

I tried to change km and after reading for 5 minutes Carprog gave the message that "the software version is unkown".

Then I tried in any way to read data out of a dashboard eeprom (always for my A6) with the S7.6. Regardless of what I do, I get all garbage reading and not a single eeprom dump.

I wish there was a proper manual with pictures and examples on how to do thing. So far this device is useless.

I will assume you chose:
DASHBOARD > AUDI > A6 CAN 2003- v0.9
What is 4F5?
For reading the eeprom, choose the 24C16 on the upper left corner (Tools) then read the eeprom and save it.

This device is not useless. If you did an internet update, unplug the device for ten minutes and key the Audi OFF for ten minutes. Test again.

We have this device running remote from Canada to Portugal on a 2005 A3 with VDO cluster and did get both PIN codes form both clusters. The correct KM was also read and changed.
Try another Audi and you should test your own Audi for faults.

As for a manual, maybe I'll have to write one like the EEProm one that I wrote.

Ciao Agostino...4F5 is the sale code for the A6 Avant from 2005 onwards.

I will run another test and pass the car on VCDS for errors

Ok, run another test.

Scanned the car with VCDS and no DTCs are present or stored in the Immo, gateway, and dashboard.

Carprog updated yesterday, car stopped and off since this early morning.

A6 CAN 2003- v0.9:
-It identifies part number, type and coding but no sw version is read.

-If requested to "Read Fault Memory", it reports an unknow error even if VCDs says otherwise.

-If "Read Immo" is used, a CAN connection is attempted but nothing is read into the VIN, S/N, PIN or keys.

-If "Change KM" is used, Carprog starts reading but at the end still report an "Unknown A6/Q7 version"

That is strange but can you create an Autoscan and save it as text file and post the text file here. I would like to read the installed controllers.

I have nothing here to test with for at least a month. Contact Raimis, maybe he has seen this problem before.
